Saying Goodbye
Talking about your pet and expressing
the pain of the loss will help to release
the shock and stress you are feeling,
especially if you speak to someone
who has experienced a similar loss.
Support groups, vets, clergy, and grief
counselors are very helpful and can be
found both in the community on online.
Getting another pet to fill the void that is
left after a pet’s passing can help. Only
you can determine when you are ready.
Just remember that the new pet in no way “replaces” your other pet. It is just a new
addition to your family – a new best friend.
Creating a memory book can help ease
the pain of pet loss and help owners to
remember the good times. Sometimes
a paw print, a clipping of fur, a collar or
other personal item, and photographs to
help them reflect on the life of their pet.
